Welcome to hold.im

The image placeholder generator v1.0

Click on a link below to find out how to use the hold.im image placeholder service

Just place the dimensions of the image you require after our url
e.g. if you want an image 300 pixels wide by 200 pixels high, type :

http://hold.im/300x200

Or how about an image 150px wide by 275px high, just use the following :

http://hold.im/150x275

If you want to change the background colour to red, append the url with the hexidecimal equivalent (FF0000 or F00) :

http://hold.im/300x200/F00

If you want to change the foreground colour, add the relevant hexidecimal equivalent, e.g. blue is 0000FF or 00F, orange is FF9900 or F90, so for an image with a blue background and orange text, the resulting link is :

http://hold.im/300x200/00F/F90

The default format for an image placeholder is gif, but should you want to save as a jpeg, then append the url with jpg :

http://hold.im/300x200/jpg

hold.im can also generate png image placeholders by appending the url with png, please note, by using png, you can also use the image placeholder opacity feature :

http://hold.im/300x200/png

If you would like a different font to appear, we have a few fonts to choose from, all you need to do is to append the url with one of the font names below. Click on a name below to preview how it looks :

Please select a font above

For custom text, just place a @ before your text :

http://hold.im/400x100/@No Image

another example:

http://hold.im/400x100/@Image Placeholder

If you wish to remove most of the side padding,
just append the url with nopad

http://hold.im/300x100/nopad/@No Pad

To be able to use opacity, you must ensure the format is set to png, then append the url with the letter t followed by a number 0 to 100

For an image with a blue background and 70% opacity try :

http://hold.im/300x200/00F/png/t70

For an image with a red background at 30% opacity :

http://hold.im/300x200/F00/png/t30

To create rounded corners for your image, append the word round followed by the radius in pixels:

For a png image with rounded corners of 10px :

http://hold.im/300x200/gif/r10

For a gif image with rounded corners of 50px :

http://hold.im/300x200/png/r50

For a jpeg, you must append the url with round followed by the radius, followed by a comma (,) followed by the colour to appear outside, so to make a jpeg with a radius of 30 and an orange colour outside of the rounded area, type :

http://hold.im/300x200/jpg/r30,f90

If you want a holding image with a border, then append the url with the word border followed by the border thickness in pixels then a comma followed by the border colour (in hexidecimal)

For a gif image with a 5px grey border:

http://hold.im/300x200/border5,777

Use it with the Rounded Corners to create a curved border :

http://hold.im/300x200/border5,777/r40/png
